A postgraduate program to develop entrepreneurs and leaders in healthcare innovation

Aimed to graduates & PhDs in Health, Life Sciences, Engineering, Business & Design

The program 

Inspired in the prestigious Stanford University’s Biodesign Fellowship, Design Health Barcelona (d·HEALTH Barcelona) is a 9-month post graduate program to turn graduates and professionals into healthcare entrepreneurs and innovators

Participants join multidisciplinary teams and experience a full cycle of innovation, from needs identification through clinical immersion in top-level hospitals to designing and prototyping a viable solution and business model development. During the journey, students are mentored by more than 70 international experts.

The learning process

  • Bootcamp: You will be prepared to work as a team and get the skills you will need for the rest of the course.
  • Clinical Immersion: You will be immersed in the daily routine of a top hospital in Barcelona (Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Vall d'Hebron or Institut Guttmann) to identify real and unmet clinical needs. 
  • Invent: You will select one of the unmet clinical needs to design and prototype a new and viable product or service.
  • Implement: You will design your business model (following Lean LaunchPad methodology).  
  • Graduation Day: You will present your innovation to the community and to a panel of investors.

Markus bona

Markus Wilhelms As a result of his clinical immersion at Institut Guttmann, Markus and his team founded usMIMA, a start-up that has developed MowoOT, a medical device which is a non-pharmacological, non-invasive, without side-effects solution for chronic constipation. 

Vanessa bona

Vanessa Gurie After her clinical immersion at Hospital Clínic, she founded the company I-Ophthalmology, which uses digital health technology to remotely connect patients with ophthalmologists. She has been pre selected for the MIT Global Sustainability and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and the EIT Health Wild Card initiative.
